Who is Pastor Vincent?
Vincent Kwabena Abofua is from a family of six, which includes his parents. They are four siblings and he is the third among them. His father is Antony Kofi Abofua and his mother is Comfort Amoah. He comes from Kpando in the Volta Region, but was born and raised in Teshie,a subeb of Accra in the Greater Accra Region.
Growing Up as a Child
As a child, Vincent Kwabena Abofua went to 31st December Women’s Movement Daycare Center, and from there continued his primary and junior high schools at Teshie Camp ‘2’ Primary and Junior High School in Teshie. Pastor Vincent lost his Dad in the year 1995 when he was just eight (8) years old. Life became difficult for his mum to take care of him and his siblings so he moved in to stay with one of her junior brothers by name Daniel Amoah till he completed his junior high school education, and returned back to his mum.
He couldn’t immediately continue his senior high school education due to lack of funds. He was privileged to gain admission to one of the best senior high schools by then with the name Teshie Presbyterian Senior High School, but couldn’t enroll because his mother couldn’t get Gh¢70 to pay for his fees. He stayed home for a year and by the grace of God, a man of God by the name Emmanuel borrowed them some money to enroll at the Ghana Armed Forces Catering Training School the following year. Because of that his senior brother had to quit his senior high education to get a security job in order to pay for that loan.
Becoming a Musician
Pastor Vincent’s brother has been a source of inspiration to him since childhood. And he is the first person to help him discover his music talent. “One thing that was common with my siblings and I is that we could all sing and dance but my brother and I could also rap alongside” said Pastor Vincent.
Pastor Vincent’s voice wasn’t good enough to be leading in church so he was a tenor singer and was only backing. People used to mock him with my voice and even though it was hurting, he joined in the laughter to ease the pain. But Pastor Vincent got provoked and challenged to work on his voice after his pastor who was also his uncle spat on the ground and told him that he can never sing and make anything good out of himself when it comes to music.
He had the gift, he had the talent but did not have the voice. So he consulted a choir leader from a mass choir that he was part of and he told him he was going to help me work on his voice. To the glory of God this man did a good work on Pastor Vincent and from that time till today, Pastor Vincent has been singing to the glory of God.
He started recording his album from 2010, but was able to complete it in the year 2017. He tried several occasions to bring it out but to no avail till this year. “Thank God for His love, grace and mercy that has kept me and has brought me this far”.
